79 A.D. Pompeii was a busy Roman port town of 20,000 residents. Then Mt. Vesuvius blew it's top, burying the town, freezing it in time. Discovered in 1750, it was excavated in the 1800's, and it's still ongoing! This place is HUGE! I've been wanting to come here FOREVER!! It's been looted of most of it's treasures and frescos, most of which are in the museum in Naples, but it was still fun to see how large this place is and how people lived 2000 years ago.
