This weekend we headed off to the Cinque Terre, which is part of the Italian Riviera. Cinque Terre means 5 lands. These 5 small sea-side villages are frozen in old-world times (besides the throngs of tourists). It's just fun to get lost in the narrow crooked streets, find a hole in the wall restaurant, and throw a few rocks into the ocean. The views were spectacular as well. Granted it would have been much better on a sunny warm day, but we'll take what we can get . At least it wasn't snowing like it was in Milan, brrrrrr.
These were the coolest train cars ever!! They had those closed off rooms just like in Harry Potter!
For some reason we kept feeling like we were in Disneyland!!! It just didn't feel real, but people totally still live in these tiny villages!!
Monterosso
To the left is an old fort which is now a private home, how cool would that be! And below to the right is an old Nazi Bunker.
This is considered the beach resort of the Cinque Terre. Just picture this beach just covered in people. I prefer the empty winter version. Just look at that blue Mediterranean Sea!
This statue is of a monk. Any guesses what's behind it? An old convent turned hotel turned Church of the Cappuccin Monks.
The church wasn't that cool, but check out that view!
