Thanksgiving in Cedar City

This was our first time back in good ol Cedar City Utah in about 1.5 years. Needless to say it was good to visit the old home town. I just don't remember it being so small or "out in the sticks" (aka - a nice way of saying hickville). A list of memorable occurances was visiting the proposal spot, visiting friends and family, and Brad was able to do a presentation at some Econ classes at SUU on his job in Transfer Pricing. (and of course lots and lots of turkey, pumpkin pie, and dixie salad).

What would Thanksgiving family time be without games!

Looks like Laney has picked up the Leany love of photography!

Cali learning how to sign more

It meant a lot to me that Laney got to spend some time with her great-grandmother Leany. My mothers parents passed away last summer, without meeting either of my girls. Yes, for those of you who weren't aware of this, my maiden name is Leany. I gave Laney my maiden name, just spelled it the original name before the pioneers changed it. If you're interested in the theory.....Laney is an Irish name. Back in the time of Irish persecution in America, my great something grandfather changed the spelling so it would sound more french, Leany. It was always a pain having it spelled that way, no one could pronounce it right, and didn't want my daughter to have to correct everyone on the pronunciation of her name. More info than you wanted to know eh?

Cali chased my Mom's dog EVERYWHERE

Thank goodness Grandma Nana kept some of the old toys around. These were the most awesome toys ever!! I still can't find anything like em today, even with all our technology advances.

Laney loves her baby cousin Lily!

Of course we had to take Laney to the St. George temple. Start brainwasher her that this is the ONLY temple to get married in (after all, me, my parents, my grandparents, my great-grandparents, and I think even my great-great grandparents got married in the same room)

This was poor picture quality due to the lighting, but this picture held so much symbolism for me. Brad helping Laney up the stairs to the temple. I just pray that she will continue to let him help her as she gets older.

One of Laney's favorite things to do is watch us do the Wii, and pretend to play along. Grandma also has a wii, and Laney discovered BOXING!! This one she can actually do and even won a round, can you believe it?

Brooklyn asked Derek one day if he would hold her hand when she went to the temple. Aren't little girls and dads the cutest? Looks like you had a great trip. Also, I loved hearing about the origin of Laney's name. That's pretty cool.

I love how she would use her whole body to shake her fists, jumping up and down. :)
That was such a fun visit, thanks for having us over again!
